4 Tips to Survive a Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom remodeling involves a lot of dust, noise and foot traffic in your home. An average bathroom remodeling project takes several weeks to finish, which can become tiring once you’re past the initial excitement. The bathtub replacement contractors at Total Bath Systems shares tips on how to survive your bathroom remodeling project.

Deal With the Dust

Cutting the drywall and tiles, as well as ripping out old components during the initial remodeling stages, will generate dust. You will need to cover furniture, electronics and other valuables. Also, cover the floor with dropcloths leading from the exit to the bathroom. Your bathroom remodeler should also use a fan mounted on a window to draw the dust outside.

Make Sure All Materials Are Complete Before Installation Begins

Remodelers and walk-in tub installation companies like us have procedures in place to make sure that all materials arrive on time. Given that bathroom remodeling projects can take weeks to finish, every day not being delayed will count. You can shorten your bathroom remodeling project with options such as, which can be finished in a day. In a full bathroom remodel, this can shave days off of installation work.

Set Up a Temporary Bathroom

If you’re remodeling the only bathroom in the house, you will need to set up a temporary one. Depending on your remodeler’s capabilities, they may be able to set up temporary shower and toilet units. You also have the option to rent the same at cost, which may be the best option as the remodelers will be able to start their remodeling work as soon as possible.

Anticipate Delays

Nobody wants delays, but it is always a good idea to anticipate and prepare for it. Delays can be caused by the weather, components with slow curing times, or unplanned repairs. Don’t plan to invite guests or family over until at least a week after the projected completion time. Also, make sure you have “emergency” funds. The costs of unplanned repairs, in particular, are not included with the quoted costs. Prepare about 10% to 20% of the total quoted cost to cover such repairs.
